We have our roots
Into the world shoot
Living a pursuit
Alone or a group.
We develop then
We expand and we blend
Our future doth depend
How we survive ’til the end.
Do we feel deserved?
Whether grounded or unearthed
Enjoyed for our worth
Devoured or preserved.
Above or below
Eventually we’ll show
Meanwhile we grow
When dug, but who knows.
Purpose served in varying ways
Picturesque on display
Or nourishing possibly
I’m a vegetable that went astray.
Unused, but existing
My purpose is twisted
A vegetable that was listed
Now should I feel gifted?
In the garden is a vegetable patch
And an apple tree behind the shed
A beautiful bed of flowers
But I’m the largest ever
Preserved pumpkin head.
