Book Publishing Deal Signed: Lost In Reality

    Hi everyone,

This week I signed a publishing deal with Austin Macauley.   For the next few months I will be working with the publishing team, designing the book how it needs to appear when it is released towards the end of the year.   I cannot reveal too much for now as the publishing company will be dealing with most of the matters concerning its promotion and publication.  Up until now, for the last few months it has been quite exciting creating the manuscript, book cover and other parts but, when officially creating my bio, intro and blurb it becomes a bit more real and… um, not frightening but REAL!!  I am a bit of perfectionist and there is always the fear that it might not turn out as good as I want, but if all goes to plan, then I am sure I will pleased when the book is released.

Just thought I’d update everyone and hope that my lyrics will be enjoyed when separated from the music.  Volume One will contain 5 albums of lyrics.  If it does gain a lot of interest then Volume Two will be released next year, hopefully.  The manuscript is as good as complete already.

My next task is to select my 3rd book selections, which will be just poetry, or lyrics that are very poetic at least (and not released as songs (although a few poems that were released as songs I may find hard not including).

Thanks for all of those following me and to anyone who buys my book later this year.

    Best wishes,

    Colin E Pyle

    Poetry Book Manuscript

    LOST IN REALITY (the manuscript)

    Hi all,
Had a few problems getting this manuscript just right, and readable for all to view. Hard work getting this ready when doing a 50 hour week job as well, but I’m getting there. Above, I have created a slightly different cover to the original one used in the manuscript. I’m not sure which will be used when it gets published though. Anyway, just thought I’d create this post so anyone wishing to have a read can now. I hope I have done everything right this time!

The Poetry Book Idea: Song Lyrics in The Form Of Poetry –

    Hi everyone,

I need to know if those who are following me, would be interested in buying a book of my lyrics in a poetry format. This is just an idea that’s in its early stages of research and preparation.

The first book will probably consist of lyrics from 4 of my albums (but maybe 5):

1/ Mask Of Reality – Reality In Dreamland

    2/ Lost Property

    3/ 2020 Vision

    4/ The New Lost World

    5/ Whatever Happened

This will be 87 lyrical poems within this book.

This will cost me up to £2000 to set-up. If the book is sold for £9.99 then I will need to sell 200. I am still making enquiries so I can find the best deal. If enough interest is shown then I will proceed with this plan. Anyone know about crowd-funding?

And then, if all goes well, I will release lyrics from other albums and actual poetry that has not been recorded in any format so far.

Please let me know if you are/will be interested, and I will make the necessary preparations to make such a book publishable.

To make the poems a little more understandable, it will help if the reader is familiar to my music but, even if not, I would like to think I can still be appreciated in a poetic form.

I am open to advice and suggestions, so please feel free to respond.

    Thanks,

Colin E. Pyle The Lost Connection

Forever Together, Me And You – The Single

    Hi all,
Today my new single was released.  This wasn’t going to be a single but, due to the delay of ‘Whatever Happened’ I decided to release this song to keep things moving and show another side to me, perhaps.   This, as with my last single, is quite revealing in terms of words and cover picture (an actual photo),   I like to be quite secretive, but I guess reality is finally kicking in and the cartoon-like dreamworld is over.  I hope the song is liked and hopefully the new album will follow within a few weeks.  Here is the link:

    Poems for publishing idea

    Hello all,

A few people have suggested that I should concentrate on poetry instead of recording songs. This was obviously suggested by those who weren’t very keen on my songs, but quite liked my lyrics. I have considered this option, but in addition to recording music.

As I’ve written quite a lot it is hard to know where to begin. I have recently had an idea though – release a book segregating the lyrics into album chapters. This is one option, but some of the songs may not come over well in a poem format. Also, many of my best poems were never turned into songs. Bearing this in mind I could release another volume of the ‘Unreleased Lyrics And Poems’.

Another idea I considered was grouping the poems into categories. This may make the reading a bit heavy and less interesting if all about similar subjects.

A third option was just to release them them in chronological order, in a multitude of volumes. Not every poem/lyric I wrote was worth publishing and there were periods that were better than others.

I will ponder over these options and look at the book publishing options available and update all as and when I come to a decision.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice feel free to tell me.

    Thanks,

Whatever Happened… will be happening soon.

    Hi everyone,

Well, it’s been an interesting year, beginning it with my hand in a cast and being unable to work for 10 weeks. Fortunately, this allowed me to focus on my music, although unable to play the keyboard with both hands.

After creating many new songs, having a few that missed previous albums and sone gems from previous decades, it made me feel the urge to create another album.

As it happens this new album contains only songs recorded in the last year or so.

The album could have have been called, We Won’t Stop, but due to the way these songs came about it is more appropriate to summarise it with a statement that sounds like a question. It is a mixture of old and new lyrics, that range from serious and controversial, to deep and sincere. The styles within this playlist are very varied too. How did such a variety come about? And what made me create them in the way that I did? Well, I say to myself “Whatever happened in life is the cause of how it developed and sounds, and now it is what it is for that reason”. And as it features my best mate Tim (a drummer, but guitarist and vocalist on the last song), who I formed a band with 40 years ago, it makes ‘We Won’t Stop’ a very apt song that can complete the album title statement (e.g. Whatever Happened – We Won’t Stop).

My target date for release of this album was before November. If the mixing isn’t completed in time then I will have to extend this date, and the last track still needs a bit of work. I do have the rest of this week off, but within 3 afternoons I need to finalise the mixes if I am going to guarantee releasing the album on time. I am also tempted to release one more single to gain more interest in the meantime. Which one though? ‘You’ is a very sincere and an appropriate ending to the variety of songs (a heavy ballad), but ‘Forever Together, You And Me’ is very soppy and could demonstrate another side to me. Both of these songs finalise the story on a very happy note, so I will focus on the latter songs this week.

There is a vague chance that ‘We Won’t Stop’ will be released separately, at a later date and then be included on a new ‘Best Of’ album. The songs included on such an album would either be determined by me, or the streaming figures. My favourites aren’t necessarily the same as the listeners’ so that could make things awkward.

If you like my music and lyrics please save my songs to your Spotify playlists, or purchase the songs on other streaming sites and then the next ‘Best Of’ album will become more genuine.

Thanks for reading this blog/post and I look forward to finally releasing this album I’ve been working on throughout 2022.

    Streaming site menu update

    Hi everyone,

Today, I updated the streaming site links to all of my albums.  Previously, the top menu took you to my ‘2020 Vision‘ album, but now every streaming site link will take you to ‘The Lost Connection’ discography page.   As of Monday, the single, ‘I Am Just Me‘ should also appear amongst my releases.  For some reason Napster are 2 years behind and do not have my last 3 albums listed.  Hopefully not many of those who are following me, use Napster.   I will have to find out why this is.

I am about to include all of the newer streaming sites to the top menu, as well, to make it easier to access all my releases, whatever streaming site you use.  My newer recordings/releases are more professional than my earlier demo-like, practice session songs and therefore I hope they are gaining more interest as my releases increase.

If you like my lyrics and songs, please check out ‘I Am Just Me’ on September 12th.  Thanks for reading this blog/post and feel free to comment or share if you feel any of my work it deserves attention.

    Bye for now,

    Colin E. Pyle
