• Website up and running again!!

    Hello all,

Finally, the hinderance has been removed (a plugin apparently) and www.the-lost-connection.com website is now up-to-date and can be viewed by anyone and everyone again. If anyone out there would like to subscribe to my website, please do. It has been 30 years since my first song lyrics were declared complete and now nearly at a total of 900 titles. As with most writers I cannot deny there are lots of moments when the lyrics were not very good, but the majority of my lyrical (and musical) pursuits and creations have been very fulfilling and hopefully can be enjoyed by other people like yourself. If what I write doesn’t interest you then that’s cool, but thanks for reading this despite the fact, lol. If you have any opinion to cast on it all just leave a comment but, as you know, it is what it is…

  • New lyrics

    Hi all,
Been very lyrically active lately.   I am just about to update the ‘Lyrics List’ as I have now written 891.  As these lyrics are liable to become songs, and are often quite personal sometimes, then I will have to put certain restrictions on the viewing entitlements.  I have spent 2 years setting this website up, but haven’t learnt too much about the security and promotion side of things.  I am going to try and learn more about how to develop this website and make it more professional….  hopefully!  One side of me isn’t interested in the business side of writing and recording, but then the other side is feeling the need to protect my work and allow limited access only.  I do have some time off work soon so I will have to focus on how to deal with this side of things a bit better.
    That’s all for now.

  • Back in my creative mode, but…

Hi to all followers and anyone else who is spending time reading this,

If I could find a way of sending this to only the people that are interested then I would, but not sure how, so sorry to all those that aren’t interested whatsoever.  Anyway…

Recently, as I mentioned, I wiped my whole backlog of music to my songs from my keyboard.  This put a bit of a downer on the creating of new stuff and couldn’t be bothered to try and re-create the older songs.  Luckily, after a week or so and having had a chat with certain people about my lack of interest now, I was inspired and felt encouragement again.  I will inevitably write new lyrics forever I expect, but I was fortunate enough to record another couple of songs recently too.  They were created very quickly and uploaded onto soundcloud soon after, despite having said that from now on I would spend more time perfecting them before revealing them in the future.  Okay, perhaps I lied, but at least I’m back in songwriting mode now.  ‘My Wishing Well’ was a song I wrote and recorded very quickly  and was based on my getting back in the songwriting and recording mode.

I guess I don’t spend hours upon hours perfecting my tunes because I like the spontaneity of creating them and am enjoying those moments rather than over-doing it.  I find it hard  wasting time on one song when I’ve got hundreds of others to do?  Okay, they may all be average (or not even that lol) instead of being mostly average and a few amazing ones inbetween.  On the other-hand if anyone can tell me what is likeable and worth working on a bit more, please do.  If people are following me then I feel I should acknowledge the fact and focus on improving my songs.  On the other-hand, perhaps everyone is just happy to check out what I’m doing and don’t wanna be too critical (?).  That’s cool, but as I do have ‘followers’ then I feel I should allow everyone of them free downloads as a ‘thankyou’ gesture.  I will have to discover how to do that (where only these people who do follow me can download my songs).  So just tell me what you think and I’ll see what I can do.

  • Interview on Chat & Spin Radio

    Hi everyone,

I had my second interview on Chat & Spin Radio today, about the song ‘Falling In Love’ on the Innovator album ‘Trapped Behind The Looking Glass’. I was not planning to do anymore interviews but there is a chance I might now but, next time, it maybe in regard to my own music. And on that note I’d better crack on with my recordings, artwork and releases. A bit pointless talking about something that isn’t out there so to speak. It might not be faultless, but it’ll be a milestone to the end of ‘The Beginning’ and time to get a bit more serious about future song productions.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my songs in the future as well my backlog catalogue on SoundCloud and, also, checkout out the Innovator album(s) which I am featured on.

Bye for now and time to start the next song.

  • Website new look and first new recording coming soon!

    Hello all,
As you will see, or have already seen, I have changed the main page on my website.  Now the songs I like the most (of the ones which were recorded during the last 10 years) are now included within these 2 playlists.  Unfortunately, I cannot include every favourite song and some in these collections are not produced, or sung, as well as they could have been but I hope to release them, nonetheless, as 2 albums (around 150 mins of music).  It is my way of preserving my musical history as an ‘in-home, unknown songwriter, learning how to record and produce my own crafted songs with no help from anybody’.  From this point onwards, I will record all my songs with more professionalism I hope, although I may release the whole of my backlog in due course which spans over 25 years.  ‘Love Music (Ft. LuZ)’ is an example of how my productions should, or could, sound in the future (as I spent much more time perfecting this song).
    Love Music (Ft. LuZ)).

The Best Of The Lost Collection 2
The next song I will be recording is ‘Inner Suns’.  I did record this song recently, as well as a couple of decades ago, but this time it will be a lot better hopefully.

I realise that the majority of people may not be able to get into this kind of music I write and record, but if there are a few out there that do like any of my songs then that is good news, but to those following me I am presuming you will like them otherwise you wouldn’t be following me, lol.  Before I finalise these two collections let me know if you think any of the songs could be replaced with other ones I have written/recorded and I will consider your advice.
    Thanks,
    Colin E. Pyle

  • What is my next plan?

Hello to all reading this.   Well, I have contacted the Yamaha Music Company and am waiting to see if there is anyway of restoring the data that was lost last week.   I’m sensing that everything I ever composed and saved in the PSR-9000 memory (over the last 10+ years) has gone.   I have various options to consider now:

1/  Try to replicate/re-record the tracks that were deleted but, because that could take literally forever, perhaps just re-recording the best songs

2/  Re-create the old songs in a more contemporary style

3/ Concentrate on creating new songs only

4/ Upgrade to a more modern keyboard now I have nothing left on my current one (except presets)

5/  Postpone new recordings and just concentrate on designing artwork for the songs that  I have already created so far and am promoting, or going to promote

    What do you reckon?

I do have a plan, but it’s all about getting re-motivated after having lost 100s of hours of musical hard work that is near impossible to replicate .

That’s all for now and hopefully good things are coming!

  • Very bad news and a sad day!!!

    Hello everybody reading this,
Today I discovered that every single song you can hear on this website, via SoundCoud, was accidently deleted from my keyboard.   This means that over 100 songs containing multiple tracks, with multiple sections (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, solos) and multiple sounds (drums, bass, piano, brass, etc) have been permanently deleted!!   The only good thing about this unfortunate occurrence is that I have a virtually endless amount of space to create new songs now, although that doesn’t really make me feel better about what has happened.  Luckily, despite this unfortunate occurrence I am feeling quite laid back so I’m definitely mellowing out in my old age, lol.    10 years of music gone in a second  )-8.  Perhaps I will release the best songs that are on SoundCloud to preserve them and maybe try and recreate them again sometime, hopefully.

PS.  Feels like when I was burgled of all of my possessions back in 2001.

  • ‘Feeling Sound’ in 2018

    Hi all,

Firstly, Happy Christmas to every one reading this.  Hope the year went well for you and hope that 2019 will be even better.

This year it feels like I’ve just hit 18 in my musical life.  In 2018 I have recorded more than ever before and, although my vocals could be better still, I’ve managed to write new lyrics and record a new song virtually every week.  I have managed to recycle old recordings (as far back as the 1980’s) which has been a good production exercise.  This year I have written some good lyrics and reincarnated some of my best songs.  ‘The Lost & Found’ and ‘Feeling Sound, which were musically recorded nearly 20 years ago, were finally completed when my vocals were added, but were extra special as they featured Tim’s guitaring (which is what made ‘The Lost & Found’ musical partnership).  Also, I completed a song from the mid 80’s (‘Then…’) which is the oldest recording I have, and which now has vocals too.  Having completed my website lots of lyrics were improved and songs slightly perfected to make them more appealing.  Now ‘Love Music’ has been reincarnated and is due to feature a professional session singer soon, so it looks like I’m getting a bit more serious about this songwriting and recording thing now.  You may love or hate what I do but, at the end of the day, I do it and if anyone likes it, great, but if not that’s fair enough.  I do expect criticism from time to time and sometimes I may agree,  so I guess I’ve only got myself to blame for uploading it in the first place.  If you aren’t keen on anything I write or record then please don’t follow me.  Hopefully, in 2019 and beyond, everything I upload will be something which I am completely satisfied with and hopefully more new listeners will start to like them too.  My production skills will hopefully improve too and my songs should sound better in all playing formats, in theory.  It is a quite a task writing. composing, playing, singing, recording, producing and uploading everything in the short space of time I allowed myself, and with just a mic, keyboard and laptop.  I will spend more time on my songs in the future and gradually introduce more session musicians onto my songs, as well as friends, hopefully.

Thanks for reading (and following and subscribing if you do) and looking forward to the new year and new recordings.

PS.  I’m glad I used to record everything that was played during practices, jam sessions and gigs.  Because of this I managed to take some of those old recordings from D90 tape recordings and convert them into an MP3 format and then add vocals.  In 1996-98 I was in a band called Area 51 (that became ‘Protocol’) and  Live Tape Recordings were kept (which were recorded in a soundproof garage).  This is a link to the longest and most intricate piece of music I have ever played in the history of time.  If you are into Prog/Heavy Rock then check this out.  These guys were great musicians and it’s a pity we never managed to gain a singer earlier and never ever got around to gigging before we split.

  • 2018 – What a year it has been for me!!!

    Hi all,

Well, what a year 2018 has been, on a musical level and in so many other ways.  The creation of my website and the songs within, was done very quickly and with no real purposes, apart from building up my personal library of words and music, and with little professionalism.  The theme for my song-writing past-time became ‘Perpetual Feast’.  Now I have managed to create my website then 2019 could be a different theme, but who knows…?   The last song I recorded gained over 700 listens (but no likes on SoundCloud lol, but thanks to the few Twitter listeners who did) and, as this song nearly gained success in 1995 I have just paid for a professional female session singer to sing it properly.   I will upload it and try and gain interest with it once again, hopefully.  Also, Innovator (the band I used to be in) released their 2nd album which featured the songs I recorded with them, prior to leaving in June 2017.  So here is a summary of 2018

1/  50 new songs sung and uploaded (plus a few old tunes which were just sat around)
    2/  58 new lyrics/poems written
3/  Website completed in July, as planned
    4/
Over 450 subscribers gained on my website
    5/
First live video done on Facebook/YouTube (although very amateur)
6/  Twitter, SoundCloud and Facebook followers growing
7/  Featured on the new ‘Innovator’ album release (‘Trapped Behind The Looking Glass’)
8/  Paid for a session singer to improve one of my songs in December
9/  Helped a fellow writer turn his words into a complete song (to which he liked)

Now, that was some of the good parts of 2018.   The other things that made it a crazy year were:

1/  For the first time ever snow prevented me from getting to work
2/  I was scammed by ‘BrokerXp’ (a bogus internet trading group)
3/  Walked out of my job (but returned the following week) and went on stress leave for        the first time ever (and went to the Jobcentre for the first time in 20 years)
4/  Hit 50 years old in the hottest year of my life
5/  A very special friend reappeared, interacted, inspired and then left me once again

Other than the above, it was just the same old weekly routine really though, lol.  Hopefully, 2019 will be more focused and less rushed and progress will be made hopefully but, as they say – “what will be will be”.

Thanks for reading this blog and hopefully all new songs will start to sound better from now on.

    Bye for now,

  • Update

    Hi all,

I haven’t done a blog for a while so here is an update.  I haven’t written or recorded much over the last couple of weeks.  I did re-record ‘High’ and ‘Payback’ (which did get the biggest response on Twitter so far) and created music to someone else’s lyrics which I discovered on FaceBook’s ‘Songwriters’ group a month ago (‘Don’t Push Me Away’ was the poem which I turned into a song and luckily he was pleased with the result).  I tried to create music for someone else’s lyrics, but it wasn’t quite what they were looking for so I may use that music for one of my own songs instead.   I now have 443 website subscribers (which is great considering I haven’t done much to achieve such).  Once I have managed to record my songs to a good enough standard I will make them available to download for free for all subscribers.  I am quite pleased with much of what I have recorded so far, but I want to perfect them as much as possible before finally making them available (as well as making them the right volume, which is easier said then done when they were recorded on Logic Pro X).  I’m having to re-record many of them from scratch using Mixcraft instead and due to my keyboard’s memory being completely full now I am having to delete tunes before creating new ones.  This means I’m having to make sure I know exactly how to replicate the music which I am deleting, which isn’t always easy as they contain up to 16 tracks per section and up to 4 sections per song, as well as 3 fill-in parts too.   Perhaps I need to invest in more equipment and learn how to utilise the equipment I already have more.  That’s for me to decide I guess, lol.  Anyway, that’s the update for now and hopefully there will be more songs recorded and uploaded soon.

Thanks to all who are subscribing and following me and I will try a bit harder to make my songs and lyrics more likeable to listen to and read.  Any comments and questions in regard to my songs I kindly welcome and will answer if possible.
