    Albums update

    Hi people,
This month I released the first album finally (Lost Property) which contained songs that were more self-orientated.   ‘Simple Man’ was recorded days before the release and could have been sand better but, nonetheless,  I feel good that I have released this first album now.  The recordings weren’t top notch, but they were as good as I could manage at this stage in time.  I am about to release the ‘Best Of The Lost Connection (2011 – 2019’ next and think I finally have the right songs included (32).  As I have such a large catalogue it has been hard deciding which songs to include.  Also, the artwork is quite a tricky job.  Once I have released the ‘Best Of’ album I hope to release all the other tracks on 3 albums under the title of, ‘The Beginning Parts 1, 2 & 3’.  I will be busy over Christmas trying to get these albums completed.  Anything written before 2000, although recorded in recent years, will be on a different album (Something Else Before).   There may also be an album titled ‘2019’ also, which will be the last of an era of very quickly recorded songs.  2020 will hopefully be a turning point and better recordings will start to be heard.  Thanks to anyone following and hope my future music will be liked even more and gain more followers.
Happy Christmas and a happy new year to all.

The Lost Recordings to be released soon

    Hi everyone.

Well, after churning out songs for the last 8 – 30 years I am about to release virtually all of my recordings.  It’s a bit crazy because I am releasing songs which would normally be featured on an album titled, ‘The Unreleased Demo Recordings’ by a band that has been around for 30 years already and had avoided exposing their amatuer recordings until their credibility was already established and the end of their success was edging nearer.

Being as unorthodox as I am, I am doing it without any prior musical success.  Many of my recordings will never be replicated in exactly the same way so I’ve decided to reveal what I did in my spare time for the last decade (and as far back as the 1990’s).  Some recordings I do still have and, therefore, vocal improvements can still be made and have been made.

Over the last year year I have been trying to create ideal playlists and, more recently, artwork that will enable me to release what I have recorded.  As I am a conceptually orientated kind of songwriter I have had to spend lots of time creating playlists and including the right songs in the right order and on the right albums to be, also.

As most recordings are in-home recordings I have not bothered to spend lots of money on the cover artwork.  I have tried to create the artwork as quick, quirky and basic as I write and record.   Once I have cleared my backlog of old songs I would like to think future recordings may be a lot more professional, but possibly not lol (but that depends and who decides to listen and like I guess).

My first release will be ‘The Best Of The Lost Collection 1 & 2’.  This is songs which I put a lot into but all data (and master recordings) have been lost.   ‘Lost Property’ is songs that are a bit more personal or relative to me maybe.  This will begin with a new recording of a very old song.   ‘The Beginning Parts 1 and 2’ contain songs written or recorded between 2011 – 2014 mainly. ‘ The Beginning Part 3 (Reaching The End)’ contains songs written and/or recorded over the last 5 years.  There will also be an album containing new recordings of songs written during the 1990’s and (on the second half) recordings from the 1990’s (‘Something Else Before (The 1990’s)’).   Between 1994 – 1998 I wrote a story, ‘Reality In Dreamland’, while I was calling myself, ‘Mask Of Reality’.  This, despite being  of a poorer quality (like all 1990’s tape recordings) will also be released.  There are one or two more albums that maybe released, but that is yet to be decided, which are, ‘Under The Influecne Of…’ and ‘2019‘).  I may even re-release ‘The Lost & Found’ recordings again sometime (with additional songs now.

Why am I doing this?   The reason is because people are confused as to why I have written and recorded so many songs and never done anything with them.  The reason for that is simply because I couldn’t find the people needed to help me sing, record and perform them and had to rely on myself to do it all (which was a long process of progression and improving enough to finally expose my musical indulgences).

Right, update over and onto the finalizing the playlists before handing them over to DistroKid’.

Thanks for reading and glad to see more and more people are starting to visit my website and listen to my songs.  I’m just an unknown, ageing songwriter, with no musical background hardly, who enjoys creating songs and expect nothing in return, but perhaps it’s time to change this frame of mind…..?

Deciding when to make the crucial step…

    Hi all subscribers and followers,
The time is drawing nearer to the point when I decide to release my many playlists as actual albums.  The main two things that need to be sorted out are artwork and what songs should be included on the 'Best Of The Lost Collections'.   I have compiled a definitive first 3 albums which are, The Beginning Part i, 2 & 3.  There are also a couple of playlists that are still growing and developing and some of the songs may appear on more than one playlist.  2019 is a playlist that features many songs written in the 1990's before and after the 'Mask Of Reality' period (which I refer to as the 'Something Else' period.  I have therefore created a playlist, Something Else Before (1990's) which contains recent recordings of lyrics written prior to 2000 and, on the second half, 4-track recordings recorded in the 1990's.  Mask Of Reality - Reality In Dreamland' may also be released, but the production is not as good as I would like as it was 1994-1998 when sound quality was not as good and tends to deteriorate over time (before converted into MP3 format).   This release of my many of my songs is not to make money, but just to make my history of songwriting available to listen to and then, once the backlog is released, I can focus on more progressive recordings in the future.  So, here is the list of album releases that will take place by the end of the year:

1/   The Beginning (Part 1) - Feeling My Way
2/   The Beginning (Part 2) - Struck In The Middle
3/   The Beginning (Part 3) - Reaching The End

Best Of The Lost Collection (1)
Best Of The Lost Collection (2)

    Something Else Before (1990's)

Under The Influence Of...  (not confirmed yet

The Lost & Found  (songs to be included not decided yet)

2019    (This will include songs that are on the 'Best Of The Lost Collection's, but also very new ones that, although better than some of the older ones, will be only on this album as they are not 'lost' yet (whereas the rest were literally lost from my database).

If anyone can offer artist ideas for cover art feel free to share them with me, as well as opinions in regard to favourite recordings.   Thanks for reading and feel free to interact from time to time on this website or any of my webpages.

    Another update!

Hello all subscribers and any other readers/listeners.

As I have been off work with back, and other related problems (which is ongoing) I have managed to record and write some new songs.  Also, moments ago, I finally realised why my website could not be accessed (a plug-in called ‘Coming soon’).  Now that has been deactivated anybody should be able to view new lyric listings and additional lyric/song links.  Sorry if you have tried to access my website for the last 3 months, but hopefully you can now and will be able to for the foreseeable future.  If I go pro then restrictions maybe incurred for copyright sakes but, for now, all is free and easy to view/hear.  Thanks for reading and more songs to come, hopefully.

PS.  30 years+ of songwriting, over 900 titles, nearly 250 tracks on Soundcloud (nearly 200 of which are my songs) and over 150 of which I have recorded on my own.    10 hours of songs and tunes (but not all good recordings unfortunately).

What am I doing? (After 30 years)

Hello everyone.  Yes, it’s that big question – ‘What am I doing?’  Well, writing lyrics from time to time still and, now I have upgraded to Mixcraft 8 Recording Program, hopefully I will be producing better songs (but no guarantee).  If I don’t improve it’s no big deal (and if I do it’s still no big deal lol).  In those quiet moments in life I still manage to find time to ruin the peace and quiet by creating a new track.  Ideally, there are other people out there that do like the sounds I throw together and, if so, BONUS!!!  Listen and, if you do like them, great! but, if you don’t, then hopefully you may in the future.  Improvements on many of my recordings are required and, as time progresses, they will be made hopefully.  That’s all for now – update over!
    The Lost Connection

This year is the 30th year of my lyric logging history and nearly at a total of 900.  Feel free to give your opinions on anything regarding me and my songs but, understand, many lyrics were written with no intention of impressing anyone.  It was just my way of exercising my brain at that particular moment in time in an expressive or creative manner (like an artist’s doodlings you could say, in many cases).

    Website now accessible

    Hello everyone,

Since my website was repaired it has been inaccessible unless you are, or become, a subscriber it seems.  I have removed an app causing this and now I think it can be accessed by anyone.  If you cannot access  www.the-lost-connection.com directly please let me know.  Thanks.

    What next?

    Hello all readers (and subscribers)
Well, after wiping my song database clean and then having a glitch with this website, which disabled me from using it, all is working once again.  I am slowly creating new tunes and re-creating some of the old ones.  I’m still not in ‘pro-mode’ yet, but am getting responses from unknowns seemingly wanting to link-up with me.  I have 454 subscribers on this website and I don’t even know who they are without doing a bit of research, so if all the subscribers could interact a little and tell me what songs they like and dislike and maybe give me some tips.   It is very weird having this many subscribers and not knowing who they/you are and what they/you think.  So, just so I can get to know you all better, then how about sending me an email saying what made you decide to subscribe to my website, or even if you just say ‘hello’ that would be nice.  I need you to motivate me into being more musically productive, rather than doing very little in my home most of the time.   I am recording new tunes, but if I know that people out there are genuinely interested then I will spend a lot more time on recording them better and more frequently.  Thanks.

    Website up and running again!!

    Hello all,

Finally, the hinderance has been removed (a plugin apparently) and www.the-lost-connection.com website is now up-to-date and can be viewed by anyone and everyone again. If anyone out there would like to subscribe to my website, please do. It has been 30 years since my first song lyrics were declared complete and now nearly at a total of 900 titles. As with most writers I cannot deny there are lots of moments when the lyrics were not very good, but the majority of my lyrical (and musical) pursuits and creations have been very fulfilling and hopefully can be enjoyed by other people like yourself. If what I write doesn’t interest you then that’s cool, but thanks for reading this despite the fact, lol. If you have any opinion to cast on it all just leave a comment but, as you know, it is what it is…

    New lyrics

    Hi all,
Been very lyrically active lately.   I am just about to update the ‘Lyrics List’ as I have now written 891.  As these lyrics are liable to become songs, and are often quite personal sometimes, then I will have to put certain restrictions on the viewing entitlements.  I have spent 2 years setting this website up, but haven’t learnt too much about the security and promotion side of things.  I am going to try and learn more about how to develop this website and make it more professional….  hopefully!  One side of me isn’t interested in the business side of writing and recording, but then the other side is feeling the need to protect my work and allow limited access only.  I do have some time off work soon so I will have to focus on how to deal with this side of things a bit better.
    That’s all for now.

Back in my creative mode, but…

Hi to all followers and anyone else who is spending time reading this,

If I could find a way of sending this to only the people that are interested then I would, but not sure how, so sorry to all those that aren’t interested whatsoever.  Anyway…

Recently, as I mentioned, I wiped my whole backlog of music to my songs from my keyboard.  This put a bit of a downer on the creating of new stuff and couldn’t be bothered to try and re-create the older songs.  Luckily, after a week or so and having had a chat with certain people about my lack of interest now, I was inspired and felt encouragement again.  I will inevitably write new lyrics forever I expect, but I was fortunate enough to record another couple of songs recently too.  They were created very quickly and uploaded onto soundcloud soon after, despite having said that from now on I would spend more time perfecting them before revealing them in the future.  Okay, perhaps I lied, but at least I’m back in songwriting mode now.  ‘My Wishing Well’ was a song I wrote and recorded very quickly  and was based on my getting back in the songwriting and recording mode.

I guess I don’t spend hours upon hours perfecting my tunes because I like the spontaneity of creating them and am enjoying those moments rather than over-doing it.  I find it hard  wasting time on one song when I’ve got hundreds of others to do?  Okay, they may all be average (or not even that lol) instead of being mostly average and a few amazing ones inbetween.  On the other-hand if anyone can tell me what is likeable and worth working on a bit more, please do.  If people are following me then I feel I should acknowledge the fact and focus on improving my songs.  On the other-hand, perhaps everyone is just happy to check out what I’m doing and don’t wanna be too critical (?).  That’s cool, but as I do have ‘followers’ then I feel I should allow everyone of them free downloads as a ‘thankyou’ gesture.  I will have to discover how to do that (where only these people who do follow me can download my songs).  So just tell me what you think and I’ll see what I can do.
