This is not a true story, just a situation that I could imagine ending-up in (trying to help and then still getting into trouble!)
Phonecall:
“Let me see your daughter, I wanna see your daughter
I really think you oughta let me see your daughter right now.”
Verse 1
I met this girl down in town,
I asked her what was going down
She just smiled and led me away
Back to her home where we stayed all the day
She lived with her parents, felt so alone
She wanted somebody like a dog wants a bone ~
That somebody turned out to be
The bone which her father didn’t expect to see.
Chorus
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
He said she’s too young to do what you’ve done
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
He made it pretty clear, he didn’t want me here again
This kind of brought our day to an end
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
Verse 2
We talked for all the day, this girl had a lot to say
She didn’t like her parents and wanted to move out
To see what the other side was all about
She felt insecure and needed a guiding hand
And somebody to talk to who she knew would understand
I spared her my ear for a peace of mind
I was gonna leave when she gave me a kiss and said I was very kind
But Oh-oh-Oh!
Chorus
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
He said she’s too young to do what you’ve done
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
He made it pretty clear, he didn’t want me here again
This kind of brought our day to an end
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
Verse 3
I pleaded with this man, I tried to make him understand
But it seemed my explanation was dissolved in his fury
When I saw his fisted hands I then began to worry
It seemed there was only one way left for me to go
It was time to make my exit ‘cos I didn’t want to see the show
I told her I enjoyed her presence but I felt I oughta leave
‘Cos he doesn’t like me you’ll have to see if you can make him believe….
The story.
Chorus
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
He said she’s too young to do what you’ve done
~Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse
He made it pretty clear, he didn’t want me here again
This kind of brought our day to an end
Oh! Oh-oh! Oh! Oh, I’m in the doghouse.
