Lost Direction (0659)

VERSE 1

I tried to be a comedian
I could write good jokes
That were very funny
But couldn’t tell them very well
I’m not a a comedian now.

VERSE 2
I used to be a driver
I passed every test
I never had an accident
Manoeuvred with precision
But had no sense of direction.

VERSE 3
I then went on the dole
But due to lack of money
Did a part-time job as well
‘Cos I had bills to pay
But dole payments were taken away.

VERSE 4a
Then in Security
An Officer I became
Had many an idle hour
Started to write about failure
It was medicinal behaviour.

VERSE 4b
I started to think more
About what I could be
Perhaps this was the way to go
But soon I lost my job
While writing a song the building was robbed,

VERSE 5a
I like writing lyrics
And recording songs
Despite being told I can’t sing
I will still persist
Could I ever be a vocalist?

VERSE 5b
What do I need?
What can I be?
If something is unappealing
Does that make it wrong?
Whatever! I’ll continue writing lyrics
And recording songs.
