Won’t Stop! (a Friends video clip)

Even if you say stop, we won’t stop, won’t stop

I was very pleased with my ‘Whatever Happened’ album, but it didn’t receive as much attention as I would have liked. This track, the album version, is one of my favourite tracks of all time so here is a little fun video clip for it:

    The Words Behind The Music

    Hi everyone,

Since December I haven’t done much musically, but have been preparing for a book release instead. It is currently in the publishing process and should be out towards the end of the year. No-one seems to be listening to my songs and music much at the moment, which is understandable as there is so much more music out there that has had a lot of time, money and effort spent on it and it shows in the production quality.

Releasing my music on a budget was not a risk, but more of a personal decision and, financially, of little loss and concern. It was more of an inner desire and not a quest for success.

However, the release of my lyrics in the form of poetry is a big venture and at a price. As I gave my songs some exposure, in an audible format, I felt it was only right to give my words a chance without the music being the main focal point. It is a brave thing for me to do as hardly anybody knows me and the chance of the book gaining interest is doubtful. This is where i am relying on the publishing company to do what is needed to reach the people that will be interested.

I will mention the release closer to the time and hope for the best. If (or if not in fact) it gains success i will release more books of lyrical poetry. I am working on the manuscripts for book 3 and beyond.

I will say that if poetry isn’t your kind of thing then that doesn’t mean you’ll dislike the words within my books. They are influenced by reality, but in a fictional context more often than not. Often, the words are written from an ‘I/ Me’ perspective, but not necessarily applicable to myself, just me putting myself in someone else’s situation and seeing things from their perspective.

I will leave it at that, for now, and let you decide if and when you get to read them.

Thanks for reading this and I hope my writing history can create an interesting read.

    Kind regards,

    Colin E. Pyle

    Poetry Book Manuscript

    LOST IN REALITY (the manuscript)

    Hi all,
Had a few problems getting this manuscript just right, and readable for all to view. Hard work getting this ready when doing a 50 hour week job as well, but I’m getting there. Above, I have created a slightly different cover to the original one used in the manuscript. I’m not sure which will be used when it gets published though. Anyway, just thought I’d create this post so anyone wishing to have a read can now. I hope I have done everything right this time!

    Poems for publishing idea

    Hello all,

A few people have suggested that I should concentrate on poetry instead of recording songs. This was obviously suggested by those who weren’t very keen on my songs, but quite liked my lyrics. I have considered this option, but in addition to recording music.

As I’ve written quite a lot it is hard to know where to begin. I have recently had an idea though – release a book segregating the lyrics into album chapters. This is one option, but some of the songs may not come over well in a poem format. Also, many of my best poems were never turned into songs. Bearing this in mind I could release another volume of the ‘Unreleased Lyrics And Poems’.

Another idea I considered was grouping the poems into categories. This may make the reading a bit heavy and less interesting if all about similar subjects.

A third option was just to release them them in chronological order, in a multitude of volumes. Not every poem/lyric I wrote was worth publishing and there were periods that were better than others.

I will ponder over these options and look at the book publishing options available and update all as and when I come to a decision.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice feel free to tell me.

    Thanks,

Colin E. Pyle The Lost Connection

Whatever Happened… will be happening soon.

    Hi everyone,

Well, it’s been an interesting year, beginning it with my hand in a cast and being unable to work for 10 weeks. Fortunately, this allowed me to focus on my music, although unable to play the keyboard with both hands.

After creating many new songs, having a few that missed previous albums and sone gems from previous decades, it made me feel the urge to create another album.

As it happens this new album contains only songs recorded in the last year or so.

The album could have have been called, We Won’t Stop, but due to the way these songs came about it is more appropriate to summarise it with a statement that sounds like a question. It is a mixture of old and new lyrics, that range from serious and controversial, to deep and sincere. The styles within this playlist are very varied too. How did such a variety come about? And what made me create them in the way that I did? Well, I say to myself “Whatever happened in life is the cause of how it developed and sounds, and now it is what it is for that reason”. And as it features my best mate Tim (a drummer, but guitarist and vocalist on the last song), who I formed a band with 40 years ago, it makes ‘We Won’t Stop’ a very apt song that can complete the album title statement (e.g. Whatever Happened – We Won’t Stop).

My target date for release of this album was before November. If the mixing isn’t completed in time then I will have to extend this date, and the last track still needs a bit of work. I do have the rest of this week off, but within 3 afternoons I need to finalise the mixes if I am going to guarantee releasing the album on time. I am also tempted to release one more single to gain more interest in the meantime. Which one though? ‘You’ is a very sincere and an appropriate ending to the variety of songs (a heavy ballad), but ‘Forever Together, You And Me’ is very soppy and could demonstrate another side to me. Both of these songs finalise the story on a very happy note, so I will focus on the latter songs this week.

There is a vague chance that ‘We Won’t Stop’ will be released separately, at a later date and then be included on a new ‘Best Of’ album. The songs included on such an album would either be determined by me, or the streaming figures. My favourites aren’t necessarily the same as the listeners’ so that could make things awkward.

If you like my music and lyrics please save my songs to your Spotify playlists, or purchase the songs on other streaming sites and then the next ‘Best Of’ album will become more genuine.

Thanks for reading this blog/post and I look forward to finally releasing this album I’ve been working on throughout 2022.

Won’t Stop! (Single Version) by The Lost Connection – DistroKid

    Hi everyone,

Today, 8th August 2022, I finally released another single, which I have been working on all year, I rarely release singles, but when I do it is because the song is very important to me. ‘Voluntary Redundancy’ was a single I had to release as it was the start of a new era in so many ways. ‘Won’t Stop!’ is a about carrying on the passion of making music no matter what anyone else thinks. The music in this song was created, by my friend and I, around 3 decades ago and luckily I recorded it when it happened. I decided to add lyrics last year and turned it into a full song this year. This single is a short version, but on the album a slightly longer version will begin the album and an even newer, and fuller version, will end the album.

The next single will be ‘I Am Just Me’ and then I will release the album soon after, hopefully. Please check out ‘Won’t Stop!. It was co-created and is about our separate musical endeavours and, despite whatever happened, we didn’t stop creating music. Unfortunately, spare time is rare and finding time to complete any of our songs over the decades, and now, has always been hard. Luckily, due to breaks from work, I managed to get another album completed and as I feel the production has progressed I have decided to release a couple of singles. No singles were released from ‘The New Lost World -19-20-21’, nor ‘Lost Property’. In 2013, ‘SongCast’ was released through SongCast radio (aptly enough) but was only available for a few years. It can now be found on ‘The Lost & Found History (2021 Song Update)’ album though. As it happens, I have written a song about DistroKid, so hopefully that will be recorded in the future, but time is running out and ‘Whatever Happened’ may be my last album I release, but let’s hope I/we won’t stop recording songs and making musical memories for ourselves and anyone else who digs what I do.

Thanks for reading this post and, if you like what I do, please buy/stream this song when possible (and share if you really like it).

Whatever Happened – The next album!!

    Hi everyone,

Well, over the last few years I have shared my song history on 10 albums. It was something I felt I had to do because I had nothing else to show for my existence in life, and these recordings were the best I could do at the time and, on the latter albums, the lyrics were very significant for those particular moments in time so I felt they had to be released while current and relevant.

As with ‘2020 Vision‘ and ‘The New Lost World -19-20-21‘, this next album, Whatever Happened, will be significant. It is a mish-mash of songs which I put together to form a concept once again. In summary, it is about getting through life in different ways and through different circumstances. In my case it all came good eventually. Major changes were made and a new life began. I’ve still managed to lose money and break a few of my bones but, overall, life is good and my music has progressed. This was due to having more time to learn, listen, practice and develop. Despite the struggles and misfortunes we get through life in some way or another and, in my case on this album, the best way – through love and commitment!

Taste is very subjective and, despite certain criticism, I am pleased with how my songs are now sounding. Songwriting has got me through life and I am now almost sounding as good as I was hoping to a few decades ago. Having a good job, a bit of money, good friends, a decent home, friendly neighbours all that stuff, helps to make life more pleasant but, even when life was shit my songwriting and recording never stopped. There are hints of anger in my voice throughout this playlist, but that’s because I was angry, although the happier songs do also sound a bit dark too, but at least it has a signature sound and a common thread running through the songs. (When you’re not in a good place and struggling, it’s hard to sound like Mary Poppins – not that I could anyway lol). I am now content in life, but this album is about battling through hard times to reach the good times (although comparisons with less fortunate ones is made) and self-justification for your endeavours.

And now, ‘Whatever Happened’ is virtually ready to be released. I could spend another 6 months adding extra parts and making every song absolutely faultless, but I’m not going to. I hope that the people who follow me online, and have liked my music up until now, will appreciate and enjoy how my music is now sounding.

Anyway, bye for now and watch this space for the release date of ‘Whatever Happened’.

    Lyrics Index

    Hi all,

I’ve been updating my Lyrics Index, so all of my lyrics are readable eventually. I have been publishing them on my website, via WordPress, to make them readable, instead of just being in draft format (and just Facebook versions which were quickly uploaded 4 – 5 years ago). This however, does cause lyrics of less interest, to be shared. I realise many of my lyrics are more personal and relative to another moment in time and may well be irrelevant and uninteresting to others now, so I apologize for sharing lyrics such as this.

I was going to share every new set of lyrics as soon as they are ompleted and, based on that I should share with you my latest two: ‘She Said’ and ‘Living The Dream For Real’. That I may do but ‘She Said’ is a sexually humourous one and ‘Living The Dream…’ is a follow-up to my ‘Reality In Dreamland’ story.

As I’m still adding brief descriptions alongside each title it is a long process, but I am striving to get my website perfect. With 1024 titles to sort it out it isn’t a quick job. Also, I’m still trying to prepare the release of my next album, in-between my 50 hours p/w day job.

Thanks to those who are following me and reading my blogs and hope you like the new stuff I’m writing and recording.

    Bye for now,

Love and sexually orientated songs with a difference… (The first 12 only listed so far)

Here’s some lyrics I have written in which I play around with double meanings, metaphors, comedic sexual encounters using my weird imagination in conjunction with reality. Hope you enjoy, but don’t read if you’re easily offended and have no sense of humour, as a few are a bit… well, you’ll see maybe. 😂

Just A Question (Before Things Get Heavy) (Song 008)

    https://the-lost-connection.com/just-a-question-before-things-get-heavy-song-008/

This was written in 1990 and recorded about 6 years later. It was part of my ‘Reality In Dreamland’ story and was finally released in 2020 (although taken from a tape recording).

"Are my ideas the right ideas? Is this shape a shapeless shape? Is it gonna make or break? Either way how long will it take? If it doesn't go anywhere what changes will I have to make? I like writing songs as a form of expression, I like playing music with a hint of aggression, my songs are on paper, my music's on tape, I'd like it on CD, but is it the right shape?"

As it happens, no changes were made and I continued in my own slow progressive kind of way. Unsuccessful, but true to myself, nonetheless. The album is ‘Mask Of Reality – Reality In Dreamland’, but still not on CD, just MP3 format.
