    Building in progress

    14 July 2017

Hello to anyone interested in reading anything I write.

I have noticed a drop in views and listens to my songs.  I am not too worried about this as I am still building the website and improving the songs on SoundCloud where need be.  During the week I did remix a song or two incorrectly, but luckily that has been amended.  When mixing a song it is hard to get it to sound perfect on all players (eg. laptop, car, hi-fi, TV, etc.) especially especially when using Logic X (apple mac) as the sound balance changes significantly when it is saved (unlike when I used Mixcraft 5 on windows).  But I am slowly getting there, although there are still areas to perfect and vocals to add, as well as old new songs to record and brand new ones to create.

Anyway, that’s all for now and I hope what I am doing and continue to do, will be enjoyed by some (or even one is okay, lol!)

    Colin

    Complete lyrics now on FaceBook

    11 July 2017

Over the last week, and I will continue to do so, I have typed out the whole lyrics to some of my songs.  They are accessible through my my www.facebook.com/thelostconnection, or through my, ‘Songs. Lyrics and Poems Titles…’   If you are interested in my songwriting as just an  interest or on a business level (seeking songs or a songwriter) please like my FaceBook page as it will make me feel that I am not just doing this for me, but hopefully for somebody else as well.

    PS.

Love Music (Song 016): a song about love (sex) and music being enjoyed in unison.

Twist (Song 147): about people (a metaphorical library) and, in this instance, one person who was like a book with an unpredictable ending.

Never Too Late (Song 696):  a song that was based on a particular person, but ended up sounding as if I was writing about myself (?).

Just A Question (Before Things Get Heavy) (Song 008): a song about me and my music, which I used in a story (‘Reality In Dreamland’) along with 19 other songs and a poem.

In The Doghouse (Song 019);  a ficticious story, but not for some… possibly (?).

Love Me (Song 004):  Was originally called ‘**** Me!’  I’ll say no more, lol!

    The Return Of… (Song 533 – 2010)

    5 July 2017

“I’m content in life, married with a wife, but my music got pushed aside. Bad things happened, I lost the fire, but underneath was still the desire. So now here’s my plan – reincarnate the lyrical man.”

    My (lack of) songwriting history…

    5 July 2017

I just realised that during how my songwriting slowed down when I met the woman who became my wife:

    2004 – I song     2005 – 3 songs     2006 – 0 songs     2007 – 0 songs     2008 – 0 songs

    2009 – 5 songs    2010 – 6 songs       The lyrics 522 to 536 were the only ones written – Shocking!!!!

Perhaps I was engaged in other things…  oh yes, I was engaged from 2004 to 2008, lol!)

    Good morning!

    5 July 2017

Well, due to adding notes (Lyrical Extracts) to my FaceBook page I haven’t had much time to write or record any new songs, although I have been making slight amendments to some of my already recorded songs.  I have come across song lyrics  which I would love to share with everyone and ones which were not so clever (although, at the time I wrote them, probably had more meaning and relevance).

I will, from time to time, reveal some of my favourite lyrics.

‘New Tracks’, though, is a song I wrote a long time ago and was pleased to finally add the vocal parts and fill-ins, etc. and upload the song.  I had already recorded the verse and chorus music, but the bridge had to be improved and fill-ins added.   There is still room for improvement, but at least I have finally recorded it and uploaded it.  To anybody reading my tweets, or listening to my songs please feel free to interact and give you opinions (preferably good ones, but I will prepare to expect a bit of both, lol!)

    Imagination Tree (Song 363)

    22 June 2017

A poetic kind of song (although it is just a poem at the moment) which explains my interest in writing, and my writing style.

    I’ve had no success yet
    But I haven’t even tried
But I feel I am successful
    To myself deep inside.

Now I’ll rise from the deep
Time to wake from my sleep
It’s time for me to seek
Where to throw my seeds of thought
They are my own instead of bought
And the fruit that I have grown
    To anybody else unknown
But it’s time to taste and see
    What grows on my
    Imagination tree.

    Poetry Seeds
    I’ve got no background
    Of any significance
    To become successful
    It can make a difference
They say it is not what
    But who you know
    I am going to prove
    Otherwise though
    Time and effort
    And much careful thought
I’ve no money, I know nobody
    And I’m self-taught
    Success – a test
    It’s my conquest
    Although I’m unknown
    I’ll achieve it nonetheless
    I’m unknown, I’m a fighter
    I’m alone, I’m a writer
Had a spark, then a fire
    Now a wild burning desire
    I’m not the typical kind
    Not commercially inclined
I do what I do for the love of it
And that’s why I’ve never quit
    And I never will…
Now it’s time to offer it
    And not make one appeal.

    Buried Alive
When I’m dead and buried my poe-tree will survive.

    Update on SoundCloud uploads

    21 June 2017

Today I decided to upload music which was recorded between 1996-1998, when I was in a band called ‘Protocol’ (originally called ‘Area 51’ when I joined the band).  These songs were recorded live in a sound-proof garage before we managed to acquire a singer, or just before vocals were rehearsed.  This band was full of great musicians who wrote all their own songs.  Unfortunately, we never did perform live due to not having a vocallist for a year or so, and because we split soon after completing the 3 song demo CD.  I did enjoy playing these tunes so I felt they needed to be uploaded on my SoundCloud site.  The recordings were transferred from an old tape recording onto my laptop.

    Hello!

    16 June 2017

Firstly, I thank you for visiting this site.  It’s still in its early days but, by this time next year, I will have the site looking brilliant, hopefully.  My songs and tunes, at the moment, are not sounding as professional as they should and are, in fact, quite sloppy uploads.  Over time I will try and improve, and eventually promote, the songs (especially the ones that have gained the most interest and ones which I particularly like).  If you are genuinely interested in my songwriting, and train of thought, please follow me so I know I am not talking to myself.  If you do, I can then channel my music with a little more purpose.  Hopefully, by July 2018, things will really start to take off.  Meanwhile, please let me know what you think and feel free to ask me anything regarding music and support me if you like what I write.  Thank you.

As I am reading through all of my lyrics and putting snippets from each one (in blocks of 40) on my FaceBook page, I am realising how some words still mean a lot and some, although they had a sense of meaning at the time, really do not come across as very interesting.  The ones that I do still find very interesting I wil try and turn into songs and upload onto my SoundCloud page.

In 1997 I did write lots of short morbid (and not very interesting) songs.  This partly reflects the fact that I seperated with a girlfriend who I shared a mortgage and bought my first home together with.  By the middle of 1998 we bought seperate homes and sold our (2nd) home, after nearly 7 years of meeting and forming a relationship.  Between 2004 and 2014 I was married and for the first 7 years I didn’t write very much at all.  This was partly because I was enjoying relationship/marriage and partly because I had most of the contents of my house stolen on 21st Decemeber, 2001.  This inclueded 3 keyboards, 4-track reocorder, CD colleciton, TV, video, etc, etc.  I was going to move to Spain in 2003 but met the one I married just beforehand.  A few other things occurred around this time which were very disturbing and had a very bad effect on my life, and still does.  This probably had a very big influence on anything I wrote during this period.  There were other periods in my life which were a bit dark and songwriting was very medicinal.  At this point in time (2017) all is well and the best things have been for a very long time.  The secret to happiness, for me, seems to be not having to please anyone, or meet any expectations except for yourself and your own.

    Song recordings

    10 June 2017

Due to lack of time to record using Logic Pro X (or Mixcraft 5 in previous years) I have had to quickly record tunes using my phone.  I have uploaded many of the rough copies onto SoundCloud for two reasons:  to show that it does have an accompaniment (which I can update with better versions later) and so I don’t lose or forget them.  Feel free to comment on any, but don’t forget the vocals are very quiet on many and the recordings are very rough copies.  I will upload lyrics to all of them eventually but if, meanwhile, you won’t to know what the lyrics are, just ask me.  Thanks.

PS.  The first part of ‘The God Trial’ (“Killer In The Making:  Payback”) has just been recorded and is one of the most epic and controversial songs I have written.   watch this space!!

The Tune: ‘One Tu – Feeling Sound’ was recorded using a 4 track recorder. I think it was recorded in 2000, as were most of ‘the Lost & Found’ songs. I have been trying to eliminate the distorted parts, where the tape has been damaged, and make the tune shorter. It was just a practice season which we had and recorded together with the musical backing playing as well (which was pre-recorded on the keyboard beforehand). I have been spending some time trying to perfect this recording and anybody on twitter may have seen this tune title pop-up a lot lately (as every time I amend it a tweet is tweeted telling everyone). Hopefully, I have got it as good as it gets now (or soon) and apologies for the multiple tweets regarding this tune). Thank you. Colin.
