    New songs

    Hi everyone,

In the past I said I would spend more time working on future songs but, due to lack of time, I have been throwing songs together very quickly yet again.  I was hoping to concentrate on writing songs that other people could use, but I’ve got a feeling another album is brewing up for this year.  I had the pleasure of being at the I.O.W. Festival last week, but this week I’m home alone (except for the cat) so I’ve been rapidly throwing together new songs and making slight improvements to recent ones.  On SoundCloud I seem to get immediate listens and in their dozens now, as opposed to a few over a couple of weeks like in the past,  Whether this is because I am recording songs people like more now or just have more people checking out what I’m doing now.

I should be more careful as to what I upload, as many ears are listening to every song I upload now, but old habits die hard and I just have to keep churning out the ideas as they form and update them as they progress and improve.  Today I recorded ‘She’s Mine’ which is a very heavy and messy love song.  I also improved ‘You And Me’ which is an almost poppy love song, both of which are about real life.  ‘DistroKid’ I felt I had to record as I have used them since the end of 2019, instead of SongCast who I’d used from 2010 – 2016 and, as I wrote a song about them it only seemed right.  I did delve into the past to record ‘Test Of Time’ which has no relevance to the present.  This means I will either record a multi-styled love song album, or try and form a tenuous link between songs, about many different things from different decades (as I usually do) so no songs get excluded.

There is another idea I’m working on, and that is to bring back the Wicked Babies songs, in memory of Steve Emm, a friend musician who I started recorded songs with over 30 years ago when I first met him.  I recorded ‘Wicked Baby’ today, but cannot match Steve’s singing.  However, I have released other songs we practiced in the early 1990’s already and may group them all togehter on a playlist eventually.

If anybody is genuinely liking what I am doing, then  feel free to throw some suggestions at me.  I do upload songs onto the MyPart website to see if anyone wants them (the ones which I don’t want to release) but I don’t think the productions are good enough for the professional artists to consider.  If there are any producers, supervisors or publishers out there who think my songs are usable (even if it means re-recording them properly) please let me know.  I should seek these people out myself, but I still tend to just live in my self-indulgent bubble where life is fun and effortless.

If anyone wants to hear the songs I have been working on this year, who hasn’t visited my SoundCoud yet, then here is the link to my new stuff:

Right, back to watching Glastonbury Festival on TV.   Today I discovered a few bands that I really like and never knew existed, eg. The Gabriels, The Lathums and a few others I didn’t acknowledge the names of (research to be done) and although known to all, Rick Astley surprised me by playing and singing ‘Highway To Hell’.  I can’t lie – I did actually enjoy his set.  Lizzo is now performing and my fiancée is actually there watching it live.

Thanks to all those reading my blogs, listening to my songs and following me on any site I’m on.  Luckily my followers are increasing on SoundCloud, which makes me wonder if I should release songs through SoundCloud instead/as well.

    Bye for now!

2023’s new songs: ‘DistroKid’ is the latest

    Hi all,

So far this year 2023 has been good year (no accidents or money lost to scammers) but I haven’t had much time to record any new songs.  As you know, I have managed to gain a publishing deal for my book and it has been proof-read, but a few changes have been made since and waiting for the second proof-reading.  So, based on my book containing 5 albums of lyrics and the next book containing the other 6 albums’ lyrics (recorded before 2023) I am trying to carefully select which songs I record from now on.   ‘Living The Dream (for Real)’ was very relevant to book and I may release it when the book is finally published and, as well as that song, I recorded ‘DistroKid’ today.   This is also very relevant to my last 3 years of writing, recording and releasing of my songs and music.  I would like to include my friend on this track in due course, but one can only hope.  Another song I recorded recently, was ‘You And Me’, which is about the meeting of my now fiancée.    Prior to that song I recorded ‘Test Of Time’ which I wrote in 1992.  I chose to record this one because I always liked the lyrics and thought is was about time I turned it into a song.  Apart from these four songs I have only improved 2 songs from last year.   It is progress and hopefully I will gain enough time to create another album by the end of the year that, if I choose to publish more poetry books, the lyrics will all make a reasonably good read as well, but it is strange having to look ahead like this as I never considered that when writing and recording before (although ‘Reality In Dreamland’ was a story and the words had to make sense and a be a worthy read).

Anyway, this just an update, after spending a few hours creating ‘DistroKid’ today.   As this song was recorded very quickly (as usual) it will be improved as the days and weeks go by, hopefully.  That’s all for now and time to turn my computer , synth and mic off and prepare for a good evening of music in Salisbury tonight.

    Bye for now,

New DistroKid Song Streams Statistics Page

    Hi All,

As I subscribe to Microsoft 365 (Office) I thought I’d utilise the spreadsheet application to  enter all of the streaming figures for my songs.  I did use Microsoft Word to write the poetry manuscript and hope to utilise more of the facilities that Miscosoft 365 provides.  The link to the new page which I have just created is below.  Three of the albums’ songs have album links next to them so that the most popular songs can be found more easily.  The links to every album are at the bottom of the complete song release list.

Just thought I’d update you all as to webste amendments I am making.

Thanks to all subscribers for subscribing and hopefully more songs will be recorded later this year, but the book side has taken priority up until now.

    A momentary break, but then…

    Hi subscribers,

Tomorrow, 30th April, I will be going on holiday for 13 days with my fiancée and will not be accessing the internet everyday like I usually do.   Hopefully, when I get back, I will have received a proof-read copy of my ‘Lost In Reality’ book.  I am also intending to learn more about web designing and how to reach-out to my current subscribers and attract more maybe.  Luckily, my good friend Mike, is going to give me a few tips and advice in regard to all website improvement and interactive matters.

Last week I recorded a new song ‘Living The Dream (For Real)’ which was written about having turned down a publishing deal in 1995 and finally released my own album in 2019.  It summarises the point at which I have now reached where life is good and writing, and recording songs, is very pleasurable and rewarding – not so much financially, but mentally.  Over the last 22 years financial losses were incurred due to con artists, fraudsters and scammers.  I also struggled with various industrial injuries and wear and tear issues, and endured an awkward relationship that, by 2020, became history and new things started to happen and better life became (apart from braking a toe and thumb in 2021).  The book of lyrical poetry (which will be published this year) will make everything I wrote become clearer, hopefully.   Life is not perfect but I feel relaxed, happy and in control and hope to start creating more new songs in the near future.  It would be good to make money out of my songs but it is not a necessity but, however, it would be good to see my book being bought (as I had to pay considerably more for this than I do for music releases) and hopefully make an interesting read and inspire others to write songs as well.

That’s all for now and I will make more musical progress in a fortnight, hopefully.

Thanks for reading this update and I wish you all the best.

Should I design websites for people?

    Hi everyone,
I am considering the opportunity of creating websites for people.  The only trouble is I have only created this one, which is not a PRO website.  I have learnt many things while developing this website over the last 6 years, but not sure if I am qualified enough to do it as an actual job.   The sensible thing for me to do is learn more about web designing if this is the route I want to go down.  I don’t have much time to do that so do I just jump in the deep end and just go for it and charge a bit less due to my inexperience, and agreeing to not charge anything if things don’t go to plan.  Does anybody have any advice?   Team Bark (a company that give designers leads to apply for) are throwing me leads but I’m holding back for now.  Thanks to anyone who can give me some advice.

We’re All Shades Of Grey (1040)

Not everything is black and white
Answers aren’t always wrong or right
The world revolves in a colourful way
But everything is a shade of grey.

    So much lies in-between
We range from extreme to extreme
But as for our colour it’s fair to say
We’re all different shades of grey.

    We are dark medium light
We’re not all just black and white
No-one’s coloured its fair to say
We’re all just shades of grey.

Black ain’t black, white ain’t white
Colour ain’t colour, we’re the same as each other
    Chinese, african, american, indian
    Russian, british, aussie or brazilian.

    What more can I say?
We’re all different shades of grey
    If we could be seen
On a black and white TV screen.

We Won’t Stop! – The latest song to be promoted, but not a single.

Song 16 of 16, that ends the latest album which was released in December 2022, which featured my mate on guitar and vocals (the same one who was featured throughout, ‘The Lost & Found History’ album) is not being released as a single, but is currently being promoted in various countries (although the UK has not been included). It is probably the most complete song on the album and deserves more exposure than it was getting as placed at the end of a long playlist. If you haven’t already please check it out on Spotify, Pandora, Apple, Deezer, Amazon or whatever streaming site you prefer. Thanks.

    Website Acceessibility

    Dear Subscribers and other readers,

Since Jetpack took over WordPress the prevention of people accessing my website seems to have occurred. For the last few weeks it seems nobody has viewed any pages on www.the-lost-connection.com. If any of you have still been able to access my website then please let me know, but the stats seem to say otherwise. You will see I have just added the poetry book manuscript link in the drop menu again. The book is in its early stages of production but it can be the draft version can be viewed on the website still, hopefully, if todays updates have amended the problems that seemed to have prevented anybody visiting.

This year very virtually no new music has been created and very few new lyrics have been written. The small amount of time I have has been dedicated to created the manuscript for Volume One of the book, and Volume Two and beyond. I did create a new song last weekend but still in its early stages. It is relevant to ‘Lost In Reality’ but not sure if it will ever be perfected enough for release. At least I’ve finally started to get musically productive once again this year.

If you are unable to access certain areas of my website still, then just send me an email and I will try and make whatever you want to read possible.

Thanks and apologies for any inconveniences temporarily incurred.

    The Words Behind The Music

    Hi everyone,

Since December I haven’t done much musically, but have been preparing for a book release instead. It is currently in the publishing process and should be out towards the end of the year. No-one seems to be listening to my songs and music much at the moment, which is understandable as there is so much more music out there that has had a lot of time, money and effort spent on it and it shows in the production quality.

Releasing my music on a budget was not a risk, but more of a personal decision and, financially, of little loss and concern. It was more of an inner desire and not a quest for success.

However, the release of my lyrics in the form of poetry is a big venture and at a price. As I gave my songs some exposure, in an audible format, I felt it was only right to give my words a chance without the music being the main focal point. It is a brave thing for me to do as hardly anybody knows me and the chance of the book gaining interest is doubtful. This is where i am relying on the publishing company to do what is needed to reach the people that will be interested.

I will mention the release closer to the time and hope for the best. If (or if not in fact) it gains success i will release more books of lyrical poetry. I am working on the manuscripts for book 3 and beyond.

I will say that if poetry isn’t your kind of thing then that doesn’t mean you’ll dislike the words within my books. They are influenced by reality, but in a fictional context more often than not. Often, the words are written from an ‘I/ Me’ perspective, but not necessarily applicable to myself, just me putting myself in someone else’s situation and seeing things from their perspective.

I will leave it at that, for now, and let you decide if and when you get to read them.

Thanks for reading this and I hope my writing history can create an interesting read.

    Kind regards,

    Colin E. Pyle

Book Publishing Deal Signed: Lost In Reality

    Hi everyone,

This week I signed a publishing deal with Austin Macauley.   For the next few months I will be working with the publishing team, designing the book how it needs to appear when it is released towards the end of the year.   I cannot reveal too much for now as the publishing company will be dealing with most of the matters concerning its promotion and publication.  Up until now, for the last few months it has been quite exciting creating the manuscript, book cover and other parts but, when officially creating my bio, intro and blurb it becomes a bit more real and… um, not frightening but REAL!!  I am a bit of perfectionist and there is always the fear that it might not turn out as good as I want, but if all goes to plan, then I am sure I will pleased when the book is released.

Just thought I’d update everyone and hope that my lyrics will be enjoyed when separated from the music.  Volume One will contain 5 albums of lyrics.  If it does gain a lot of interest then Volume Two will be released next year, hopefully.  The manuscript is as good as complete already.

My next task is to select my 3rd book selections, which will be just poetry, or lyrics that are very poetic at least (and not released as songs (although a few poems that were released as songs I may find hard not including).

Thanks for all of those following me and to anyone who buys my book later this year.

    Best wishes,
