Shadows And Light (0161)

You see the stars in the films
You see the stars on the stage
You see the stars on TV
You see the stars but from afar.

Do we know who they are?
Do we know their age?
Do we know how they look
When they’ve cleaned their face?

You see the stars on the news
On TV, in the papers, hear them on the radio
Performing, promoting,
Advertising, interviewed
Or in the news for crime…

Drink and drugs
Sex and violence
Not how we saw them
How do we see them now?

Who is good? Who is bad?
Make one slip and you’ll go down
Big time name, secrets hard
One wrong move could have you barred.

Tabloid press couldn’t care less
If the famous are distressed
Big time news, the public pay
Success, infamous – misportrayed?

Shadows and light
What are they really like?
