    An update…

    Hello people,

I now have 2 months left to complete this website, but what happens after that who knows. I will endeavour to spruce the website up a bit, with pics or videos maybe, but let’s not promise too much just yet. This month I have recorded 3 new songs already, but SoundCloud is not gaining the listeners as much as it used to. This could be due to the fact that the songs this month aren’t so good, or because followers are listening and liking them via my Twitter site. I must admit I have not spent very long recording the last two and I guess it could be my own fault, lol. Anyway, thank you to those that are listening and reading my lyrics, whether it be on Twitter, FaceBook or SoundCloud. I will try and spend a bit more time perfecting the next songs this month.

    Not chasing anything!

“I’m not chasing success, if it’s meant to be it will find me.”   This is the first line a new song I will be writing.  You could call me lazy for not spending more time on perfecting my songs to make them more likeable, but I’m doing it for my own pleasure and if anyone else likes it then that is a bonus.  I will, when time allows, perfect the songs as much as I can.  At the end of the day I do what pleases me and am not changing how I go about things just to be liked more.   I know, this is a very negative and self-indulgent attitude, but that’s just how it is for now.  Until I improve my song productions I sense I will not gain any major interest or success, and I understand that, but I will try and focus on this side of things once my website is near completion (6th July, 2018 is the target date).  I obviously want my songs to sound as good as possible, but I am not gonna waste my time on any specific song unless somebody shows genuine interest.  I do view statistics to see what is being read or listened to most and I wouldn’t mind any positive comments.  Negative ones will not really carry much weight as I know what faults my songs contain and don’t need them to be pointed out and I realise the style in which I record is not the usually kind of ‘norm’.   It is what it is and it is ‘The Lost Connection’.  Connect with the ‘Lost’ if you like what I write.

    What’s Wrong? (Title 797)

    VERSE 1
Misfortune is unfortunate When laughed at it’s criminal (I think) Beating-up a criminal is illegal But killing the public is feasible In times of war (as long as they are foreign).VERSE 2
Are foreigners offended? Did the criminals laugh? Depends where you’re from And whether you really care.
    VERSE 3
Care is about caring “Do you care what I think?” A terrorist once said With his loaded gun Pointing at their head.VERSE 4
Lying is immoral But sometimes the truth can hurt Secrets are secretive And only secretly work.

    VERSE 5
Is religion to be believed To continue after death? “Yes” said the suicide bomber With explosives strapped to his chest.

    VERSE 6
Somethings are illegal And the law should be abided But some laws are questionable Like the people by whom which The laws were decided.

    Another holiday coming up…

It’s that time of the year when my two holidays occur.  I have recently uploaded a very old song on SoundCloud, which I found buried in my vintage CD recordings.   Think it may have been recorded only 4 or more years ago but it seems like ages ago.  It was only practiced once and recorded during the process, with my ‘Lost & Found’ guitarist and vocalist Tim Kerley.  There was no time to practice it  or improve it.  I have added my vocals to enhance it a little, but I may improve them at a later date.  This is the forth song uploaded this month, so the target has been reached.  The next song to be recorded is unknown at the moment but hopefully, somewhen during the second week of April, I will have decided and an uploaded song will appear on my SoundCloud site.

Thanks to all who do read these blogs and those who check out the songs I am recording. It is early days in building up my recorded song collection and much improvement to be made, but I am primarily just demonstrating roughly how the lyrics fit into a musical format.  Whichever ones gain the most attention I will probably spend time perfecting so they are 100%.  I am, first and foremost, a songwriter and anything else I manage on my own is a bonus.  Always looking for better singers and musicians to make my songs sound even better…..

Thanks once again for following any of my creative endeavours.

    While I’m taking a short break…

    Hi all,

I’m now about to go away for a few days playing golf in France, but at least I managed to record a couple of songs this week.  ‘In The Doghouse’ was a very old song which I finally got around to recording on my own, but ‘My Special Friend’ was turned from just lyrics into a song in one session earlier this week and recorded instantly.  I had no idea how I intended this song to sound, but within moments it developed into the song it is (and now on SoundCloud).  I was so pleased with the mic I used for ‘My Special Friend’ and can’t wait to use it on all future songs.   As well as recording these two songs I have also added quite a few more lyrics to the ‘titles’ list.  The deadline for completion of the website is still July 6th, 2018, which I should manage to meet in time.  I’m glad to see ‘Cloud 9’ (the instrumental version) getting a lot of listens this month.  Suddenly it has gained a lot of interest, but I’m not sure why but I am very glad to see it.  I may make it little shorter in the future, but not change the essential parts of the tune.  Anyway, bye for now and keep checking out some of the 180 songs and tunes which are now on my ‘SoundCloud’ and/or the lyrics on FaceBook or website.

    Thanks,

    Back to recording…

    Hi all,
Been a bit lazy on the recording side, lately, but I have been adding more lyrics the my ‘titles’ list.  I briefly tried to record, ‘In The Doghouse’, but never got very far.  But, as from today I have some spare time.  I am on holiday from the 18th March, but going away on the 14th March.  I will endeavour to record a complete song before I go away.   There are various options as to which song I choose, as I have a quite a few recordings that only need vocally accompaniment to be added.  So, watch this space and my SoundCloud and soon a new song will be uploaded.
    Thanks,

    The Lost Connection

    Come Dawn…

Hi all.  I thought I’d mention this particular song as it is one of my old favourites, but doesn’t seem to capturing many people’s interest.  Check it out and if it still gets no likes or listens I’ll assume it is just a personal taste thing.  Thanks.

    Listeners!!!

    Hello all,

This week there suddenly seems to be a big increase in the amount of listens to my songs.  Always good to see, just hope they are being enjoyed, but still plenty of room for improvement.  Meanwhile, must find some time to record another song this week…  Any suggestions?  Usually work on one each Saturday but bumped into a friend from the past and been somewhat sidetracked…

    Bye for now.

    The next song will be….

I will be recording either ‘The Lonely Romantic Man’ or ‘The Lost & Found’ (although that was meant for the duo, ‘The Lost & Found’).  I hope all of you, who are listening to these songs, are enjoying them despite the minor defects that occur through fast in-home production and untrained vocal accompaniments.  Eventually, I will iron out all imperfections and make them all a very pleasurable listen.

And later that day….  https://soundcloud.com/thelostconnection/the-lonely-romantic-man-song-311-1st-version-short    Result!

I’ll Always Be There For You (Song 799) *Lyrics just written today*

Right, just written this set of lyrics to accompany the instrumental I uploaded 4 years ago.  The music was written  for somebody else and, as he didn’t use the music for his own lyrics, I have.  (The other two tunes of which I wrote for him became ’Reflect’ and “No Time To Waste’).  I decided to finally do this because it has had so many listens that I thought it deserves some lyrics to make it more interesting.  Admittedly, when I sing the lyrics, it may not gain as many listens, but I’m gonna do it anyway.   The tune was ‘Love Makes Me Sick’ and written for a story called Amy Peppercorn.  The instrumental version title will now be changed to the above with ‘(Music Only)’ after it.   So, now it’s time to put the music and lyrics together and see if I can sing it in tune…  I will try and complete it by tonight.
