    Enter the LOST world!

The end of the year is approaching and I’m feeling good about 2018.   2017 has been the start of ‘The Lost Connection’ website and I’m so glad it is growing and the target date for completion is still July 2018.

Meanwhile, as time progresses, I am revealling more and more about the ‘Lost’ lyrics and tunes that may rattle people’s interest and that enlightens people as to how I mentally function and, thus, then became “The Lost Connection’.

With nearly 800 song titles and additional music uploads, I have to expose what I have written gradually, otherwise there would be no way of phyiscally reading everything in the grand scheme of things, time being what it is.

An update on website progress (and if you ‘like’ why not become a follower).

In the new year I will start to promote my website more and more. This will involve sending out ‘like’ requests. I know many people have no interest, whatsoever, in what I write and record and I do not mind getting no response. On the otherhand, if you do ‘like’ anything I post and respond in a positive way then that will be very much appreciated. The website is growing more each week, but still doesn’t look very professional yet. Making it look professional is the very last step I will be taking, whereas loading all of the lyrics and songs is the main task at the moment.

‘What am I trying to achieve?’, you may ask. Nothing is the dead honest truth. This website is just a big storage area for everything I have written. Admittedly, I would like more and more people to enjoy reading and listening to, ‘The Lost Connection’, and if it leads to collaborations in the future that will be a bonus. An even bigger bonus would be if a well known artist decided to record any of the tracks, but for now I am making virtually no endeavours for that to happen.

Thank you for reading this and hope you are able to enjoy some of the things I have created in my ‘LOST’ world.

The 7 Note Challenge (by Serj Tankian)

I came across this competition, hosted by Serj Tankian (the former singer of System Of A Down, before going solo) which was to create a song/instrumental using 7 notes, which he had selected to start the musical piece.  The tune couldn’t exceed 3 mnutes in length, but other than those two stipulations how the tune seveloped was in the hands of the writer/musician/composer.

I, on my second attempt, came up with something which seemed okay to turn into a song.  I had created a chord pattern around the 7 notes (which I used as a bass line) and then added lyrics soon after.   There were no other stipulations regarding the song speed, style, pitch, sound, etc so this is what I came up with…  (not sure if I should be uploading this before the challenge ends on 15th December, if I recall rightly.

Perhaps if I just show the lyrics there will be no competion infringement… (?)   I know – I’ll add it to my ‘Complete Lyric List’ (792-Clarity) and if you want to read them and/or listen to my entry.

I created the music within one afternoon and added vocals in one session.  I have time to make improvements still, so I will see what I can do to make it a worthy competition entry,  If you do happen to listen to the tune let me know what you think (even if you do think it’s rubbish, lol!).

    Can you feel it?!

    Feeling Sound (Song 572)

Tap on this link above to hear one of many of my songs that have been improved recently.   All this Saturday I have been making small perfections to many of this year’s recorded songs.  Hopefully they are sounding a bit more professional now.  Once I’m happy with the mix I will do something with them.

Hopefully there are some people out there that will enjoy these songs, but time will tell….

Here’s one of the only two Christmas songs I wrote (but no music for it yet….)

Christmas Is Here At Last (Song 570)
    V1. December is here
          Christmas is near
          This time is for giving
          To those who are dear.
    V2. A festive occasion
           With friends and relations
           The homes lit with lights
            All over the nation.
CH. We drink and we cheer
           Christmas is here
           With joy and elation
           And much celebration
We end the year on a high.
BR. It’s time to be merry
           Us and everybody
           Remember the good times
Leave the bad in the past
           Christmas is here at last.
    V3. For dinner time
           It’s turkey and wine
           Then for desert
           Pudding and pies.
    V4. Before all of that
           We get Santa’s sack
           And hand out the presents
           And watch as unwrapped.
           CHORUS
    V5. The kids are excited
           The parents delighted
           Everyone is happy
           The family’s united.
           CHORUS
           Christmas is here at last
           Christmas is here at last
           Christmas is here at last
We celebrate and all raise our glass.

New Tracks…. And other old ones

New Tracks (Song 434):  this is the most relevant song to me and my life and, if and when I release an album (very easily done these days) ‘New Tracks’ will be the key song I think. I’m not expecting to sell any copies if I do – just thought I’d make that clear. I’m under no grand illusion here, it’s all self-indulgence and if any body likes it that’s a bonus!

As with most of my songs, I have amended the mix of the recordings many times so that the volumes of vocals and music are both clear on all music systems. Today I increased the volume of the vocals on this track and it seems to be just how I want it now.

If you get a chance have a listen to this song and let me know what you think.

    https://soundcloud.com/thelostconnection/new-tracks-song-434

I am intending to categorise my songs soon, but there’s a lot to get through! Some of my songs are very adult orientated and contain sexual matters (some serious and some humorous, and some also containing expletives or controversial subjects, so I need to separate these from the many other normal songs.

‘The Lonely Heart Hotel’  is about… (I’m not gonna tell ya now) but it has a very  adult them, although disguised in puns throughout.

‘Killer In The Making (Payback)’ is about a guy who was bullied at school and turned into a killer in later years.

‘Anger Rapped In Anger’  (Song 783 which hasn’t been recorded yet) is a rap song which uses phrases that are common in many modern day rap songs, but  as well as taking the piss a little bit it also covers controversial subjects in the process.

The likes of ‘Miss Astronaughty’ and ‘Yoghurt Lady’ and  ‘Straight-Up! (Maybe Not)’ have sexual themes and expletives, as well as many others which I have yet to mention, so I will have to make this clear before the wrong people read them.   But should I worry in this day and age?  Probably not, but better safe than sorry!

Finally, to round it up, ‘Write-On!  Track’ is a song that summarises my songwriting and why I do what I do:

“I write about rights and I write about wrongs, I’m right on track when I’m writing these songs.  I write about life and I write about death, I write so when I’m gone something is left.  I’ll just speak ‘cos I can’t really sing, I guess just rapping is my kind of thing, I tend to rely and the tune and the beat, to make you hum or move your feet.    I write, I write, I write – I’m back (“Right-on!”) I’m writing another track”

Thanks for reading this and I hope you are enjoying what I have written and recorded.  If you decide to ‘follow’ me I will try and make it worth your while by improving everything I do to make it even more enjoyable.

Colin E. Pyle (The Lost Connection)

PS.  I am also currently creating a playlist for album possibilities and this is it so far:

    1. New Tracks
    2. Never Too Late
    3. All Or Nothing Kind Of Man
    4. No Time To Waste
    5. Time
    6. Action Not Words
    7. Reflect
    8. Feeling Sound
    9. Write-On!  Track

Some of these songs need improving, but I will do that in due course.  I will probably add more to this list eventually. Some of these songs are very self-orientated and are not suitable for anyone else and that’s why I would keep them. I sense that people who know me are thinking, “Nobody will want them anyway!” and they could well be right, but who knows….?

lyrics to ‘Killer In The Making (Payback)’ created from ‘The God Trial’ which I wrote in 1992

The first 2 verses and last verse were written this year, to justify the title of the song and make it a more simplified version.  ‘The God Trial’ was a very long song which I turned into a script.  The original was about a killer mocking the religious sect, whereas this was about someone who was bullied and merely seeking revenge.

    KILLER IN THE MAKING (PAYBACK)

At school I wasn’t bright, in fact I was thick
People only taunted me, if not punched and kicked
Time to turn the tables, my vision is clear
In my mind it is justified, may you all live in fear.

I’ll darken light of stars that shine, to clever people blow their minds
As for the strong I’ll bring them down and the rich financially ground
I’ll do what I chose and what I please, kill the rich or spread disease
Twist your arm or break your knees, burn you all in a thousand degrees.

From birth I rose, a religious foe, a christian birth, for not it’s worth
A son of God, but flesh and blood, out of control from powers above
They call you ‘God Almighty’ – Father of this race
But your might is like a mite, out of sight in the night.

Each night they pray, in faith they lay, on hope you give, in faith you live
You’re over-praised, a long term phase, from such a power hell was raised.

I’ve become a killer, I kill for thrills – I revel in the blood that spills
While others pray to live each day, you have no say in who will stay,
I’ll strike again – another death and then another death…
Once again the people die while I still survive
Now I’ve got the upper hand to the assholes it’s goodbye.

I’ve got your numbers, I remember all your names
Time for payback, time to taste the pain
Time for payback, time to taste the pain
Time for payback, time to taste the pain
Time for payback, time to taste the pain
Time for payback, time to taste the pain
In my mind it’s justified – time to taste the pain.

    Update

Well people, my 2 weeks off work has just begun and I’ve managed to add many of my early lyrics to this website.  In addition to that I have just created a keyboard version of ‘The Lonely Heart Hotel’, which I hope to record within the next day or two.  If I manage to sing it well it should be a good song to check out.  It has never been recorded in its entirety since it was written in 1992.  Some of you may have checked out the early recording, featuring just guitar and vocals of the first half of the song, on SoundCloud already.  Hopefully, within the next couple of days, you will be able to hear the complete song.  It should be a classic if I can pull it off well.  It will be uploaded as soon as I have recorded it.

A big welcome to new followers…

Thank you to everybody around the world who checked ‘The Lost Connection’ out on FaceBook last week.  I paid for a one-day page boost because I was told I was entitled to £10 towards page promotion (and out of curiosity). Not sure if I was discounted £10 or not (all will be revealed soon!).  Thanks for all ‘likes’, followers and ‘shares’.  Sorry I have been unable to respond to the malicious messages sent to this webiste because they are automatically blocked (all 180 of them – interesting fact there).

At the moment SoundCloud is still just my music junkbox. There are some well recorded songs in there, but a lot is just memorabilia, nostalgia and self-indulgence.  Nonetheless, I hope other people can enjoy some of it to a certain extent.  The real promotion will not begin until next spring, probably.  The main area I am focussing on at the moment is the lyrics.  I am still adding them to my FaceBook notes and linking them to the www.the-lost-connection.com.  I will record (and re-record) many songs in the coming year(s) and, hopefully, make them sound more professional and contemporary eventually.

Thanks for reading this and hope you continue to visit the ‘Lost’ world in the future.
